WHAT SIZE ARE YOU?
I am a size 0, small (sometimes x-small), 24/25 in jeans and 7½ in shoes.
HOW TALL ARE YOU?
I’m 5’7″. Still wishing I were taller!
WHO TAKES YOUR PHOTOS?
I take the majority of my photos. My camera is an older Fujifilm DSLR, but it gets the job don. Photos of me are taken by a variety of photographers.
WHERE DID YOU GET __________?
I try to link to anything I own that is still available in stores within my posts and in the rewardStyle widgets below each post. If an item is no longer available, I try to link to something similar.
HOW DO YOU BECOME A REWARDSTYLE BLOGGER?
RewardStyle is an invitation only affiliate network for bloggers and brands. You have to submit an application, and if they think your site is a good fit, you get approved and they help you get started with all of their tools! If I know you personally, I’d be happy to refer you! Just shoot me an email!
CAN I USE YOUR PHOTOS ON MY SITE?
As long as you’re not using them for marketing or affiliate purposes, absolutely. Just make sure that images are clearly credited with link and that the image isn’t being used to sell a product. I do charge a fee for photos being used in commerce. If you use my photo on Instagram, please tag me in the photo and in the caption.
WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING?
I blogged on and off for fun in college and a little after. I started By Wild in March 2016 and launched in April 2016.
I WANT TO START A BLOG, DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO GET STARTED?
Just start. Stop talking about starting and just start. There are so many elements of creating a successful blog that it can be really overwhelming and you’ll find yourself talking about starting a blog for months before you do a thing. Get started and learn as you go. It’s okay for things to be a little rough. By Wild will always be a work in progress. I will have written hundreds of blog posts before I feel like I’m getting the hang of it. Write, take pictures, practice styling clothes, or whatever it is you plan on photographing. Take a Photoshop class or pay a photographer friend to teach you a few things. Great light and good editing goes a long way. The to do list to actually create what you have envisioned in your head is endless, so just get started and admit that your blog isn’t going to be top-blogger material from day one. No one’s blog looked that good from day one. Don’t let perfectionism prevent you from starting at all.
HOW DID YOU GROW YOUR READERSHIP?
I think having quality photos is a big part, but staying relatable is so key. The social networks we live on today are largely image driven. I used to serve as a Living Editor for The Everygirl, and that definitely gave me a boost in followers. Honestly, you just want to be putting yourself out there and genuinely interacting with other people. Don’t focus on looking like your life is interesting. Live an interesting life. Then document it.
WHO DESIGNED YOUR WEBSITE?
I create all my own graphics in Adobe Creative Suite, usually Photoshop or Illustrator. The theme I previously used for this site was designed by WhoWhatWear, but I severely edited the CSS to give myself a distinct brand. The current theme (also the theme I use for carolinecwilder.com) is a free theme within the WordPress.org platform that I’ve tweaked called Olsen.
