In the last year, podcasts have added tremendous value to my life. They keep me entertained and always learning. Beyond that, I just love the nature of podcasts — I can listen any time, anywhere. It doesn’t matter if I’m doing laundry or in the car.
My favorites lately…
These guys have been instrumental in mindset shifts I’ve made throughout my minimalism journey. If you’ve been curious about minimalism, The Minimalists podcast is a great place to start! Josh and Ryan dig into minimalism as it pertains to every part of life, and approach the topic with a laid back, nonjudgmental attitude that helps everyone find what works for them. You can count on an episode every Tuesday, and they’re advertisement free. So if you want to support The Minimalists, you can do so here.
Working a creative side hustle? The Goal Digger podcast is hosted by wedding photographer and calligrapher Jenna Kutcher. This entrepreneur turned her side hustle into a 7 figure business. On the podcast, Jenna interviews other creative entrepreneurs, and they all share their secrets to strategically navigating the world of entrepreneurship with grace and authenticity. You can expect a new episode Monday and Wednesday every week.
Every wondered how your favorite company got started? What are the stories behind Whole Foods, Instagram, Airbnb, Patagonia, Warby Parker, Crate & Barrel? This NPR podcast interviews the founders of well-known companies to give us an inside look at how these companies became what they are today, and the journeys their founders took to get there.
If you’re a fan of this Vanderpump Rules reality villain and don’t mind a little profanity, you’ll love this podcast. She wanted this podcast to be like having wine with your girlfriends, and there’s almost always wine. You get a different peek into Stassi’s life, and she’ll give you her opinion on everything — from how she feels about Ariana snubbing her efforts toward friendship to celebrities talking race and politics at award shows. When my week needs a little sass or sarcasm, this is where I go.
I love the variety in content that Jess covers everything from career to family, with wellness and intention integrated into every episode. What it really boils down to for me is that she wants to discover, and share, how it is that we can live our best life and be our best self. She’s singing my song. I will warn you, she may seem a little hippy dippy or “woo-woo” as she calls it. I sometimes find myself using different words to interpret what she’s saying into a way that makes a little more sense to me. But find an episode topic you like from her podcasts and you will learn so much.
Since this isn’t a recommendation for one specific podcast, I’m not counting it toward my 5, but I think everyone should have at least one podcast in their lineup that will help them grow. It’s clear that I listen to a lot of creative entrepreneur-type podcasts, but I really try to keep a balance. I like to have some variety in that growth, so I listen to sermon podcasts from pastors I love, or French podcasts to exercise my learning muscle.
I wanted to share a few of my favorites, and if you’re also a big podcast listener, I’d also love to hear yours in the comments below!
