One thing I’ve learned over the last couple of years is the importance of self-care. Life is just way too fast sometimes, and we get caught up in the craziness of it all. But sometimes you just need to slow down. Take a bubble bath. Do your nails at home. Finally use that hair or face mask that’s been sitting in your bathroom cabinet calling your name for weeks on end. Sleep — for as long as you need to.
For a long time I was the people pleaser who couldn’t say no. To events, to obligations, to favors, to answering texts and emails right away, and I realized my entire life was a reaction to the things going on around me, and that made me unhappy. So I’ve made the conscious decision to slow down. Maybe for you that means sitting down to eat breakfast instead of eating on the go, or taking a minute to do some reading at night. Whatever it means for you, I’m giving you permission right now to take some time for yourself.
